About Me

I am an  designer, UX advocate, and manager with over 20 years of experience across marketing, business, and software consulting. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of client types in dozens of industries.

Currently, I have shifted focus to my independent practice, Experi Design, working with founders, solopreneurs, and smaller teams to help realize and deliver their unique vision. In this role, I leverage the learnings from my agency life to provide valuable and efficient insights to get work done.

I embrace collaboration. Either one on one with a client or as a design lead on a team. I have come to the belief that the best solutions occur in the space between people, not from isolation.

I look forward to working with you on your next project! Please feel free to contact me to discuss any current or future needs you may have.

Personal History

A look back at the road to now.

2020s

Charting an independent path

Little did I know that the Covid era would set me up for a more independent path, I shifted my focus to freelancing and started to build up my independent design company, Experi Design. Much of the work that I have been delivering is in the application design space, primarily for the AV Industry. Along the way, I have also been supporting with marketing material design for the primary client as well as other independent clients. This is my current focus and looking forward to working with my independent thinkers as I move forward.

The Rightpoint days

Starting at Rightpoint was a welcome cultural shift. Working with larger design teams and no longer the UX design team of one was a great change. Opportunities to lead larger projects consisting of multiple designers and development teams was a welcomed challenge and provided more application design experience to build on my traditional website experience. Rightpoint was eventually acquired by Genpact and then with the Covid times that arrived, Rightpoint was caught up in rounds of layoffs and I saw my exit at that time.

2012-2014

Return to big consulting at Protiviti

Protiviti was a big step for me back into a larger consulting firm. I worked very closely for the first half of my time there with an agile development team as the lead UX designer. The second half of my time had me also working with their SharePoint practice in leading UX design and strategy for various SharePoint implementations. Having stepped back into a big consulting firm had my longing for the days of a smaller company and the opportunities that it would present.

A shift into smaller consulting with Pointbridge/Perficient

Leaving The Revere Group after a long stretch had me arriving at a smaller, more focused consulting firm, Pointbridge. They were primarily a Microsoft consulting practice with much of their web work in the SharePoint space. My tenure here provided much SharePoint experience as well as taking a more strategic focus with my work. Pointbridge was acquired by Perficient and I was soon to leave for my next stage.

Getting big consulting "sea legs"

The Revere Group started a boutique arm of their comapny named AgencyR. I was brought in to help support its growth as a web focused practice. this was then brought back into the main consultancy where I had the opportunity to scale up my website design and development skills and expertise working on larger, more complex websites. While here, I also delivered much of the marketing support materials for Te Revere Group as print collateral as well as trade show booth design and support.

Learning the marketing agency ropes at MSI

My next step on my journey saw my transition from production design to art direction at MSI. I reflect on this as my agency bootcamp and had the opportunity to work on practically every aspect of design in the marketing toolkit. This is also to point at which I began charting a path into web design and development as the medium was at its infancy state. I knew that to take my web aspirations higher, I needed to focus more on the technology leading me to my next stage.

1993-1995

Starting out in the big city

After graduation, I began to apply my skills with computer design (desktop publishing) at various agencies in the Chicago area. These years were heavy in production design working alongside art anf creative directors, helping me to learn the ins and outs of the industry. Projects were print-based and much focus was on direct marketing and presentation design.

The college years

Starting out as a music production and engineering major at Berklee College of Music, I discovered that I had a strong affinity for visual design while focusing my education in production and music for screens. As graduation approached, I found myself taking on additional design projects for classmates needing art for demo covers and promotion. It was here that I began my journey in graphic design.
